[DIY – Denim Backpack With Patches]
I saw these patches at Old Navy and fell IN LOVE. I was obsessed and bought them as soon as possible. I immediately got on Pinterest to find ideas on what I could put them on. I eventually found some cute ideas with putting them on denim backpacks. Customizing my own backpack has always been something I’ve wanted to do and this gave me the chance to do it!
I was searching for a denim backpack for a few days online with no luck. I was finding them but none of them were cute or my style. I eventually went to Forever21 with some friends and we searched for one. Forever21 ALWAYS has what I’m looking for it seems like. I bought my senior year homecoming dress there for like $22. What a steal. Anyways, this was right before school started back up so I was able to use a Student Discount on the backpack which made it only $15! Yay!
So if you are thinking about making your own, you have came to the right place. Below is a step by step guide on how to make one!
[Step 1]: Gather all your materials.
[Items Needed]:
- Denim Backpack (Forever21 for $15*)
- Patches
- Iron
- Old Cloth
* These are the prices that I paid using coupons, items being on sale, or from them sitting in my grandmas craft collection being unused.
[Step 2]: Turn your iron on.
Preheat your iron for 3 minutes on the “Cotton” setting. You don’t want it to be too hot because this is a gentle material. I tested it out on the denim in a few areas before I began just to make sure it didn’t burn the fabric.
[Step 3]: Choose where to put your first patch.
Decide where you want to put your first patch! Once you are happy with the position you can lay your cloth on it and gently put the iron on it.
Hold it on the patch/cloth for around 30 seconds. After that lift it up and see how well it is sticking. I did this a few times for each patch. Just continue doing it until it is on there really good.
[Step 4]: Continue placing the rest of the patches.
Once you are finished doing the first one you can start putting the others on. I placed mine all over the backpack.
[Step 5]: Finishing up!
After you have all the patches on that you want, you are done! I had so much fun doing this and I’m so happy with the way it turned out! It only took me around 20 minutes to do once I got started! I might add some of my Pokémon pins that I have sitting around or maybe find a cute key chain to add to one of the zippers. The possibilities are endless.
I hope you enjoyed and if you decide to make your own please leave a comment or add it to my pin on Pinterest!
